Today marks Sallah celebrations.
In Muslim parlance, the festival is the most important feast in the Muslim calendar as it is an occasion to celebrate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, Isma’il (Ishmail), in submission to Allah and was willing to obey the order until Allah replaced the sacrifice with a ram.
Millions of Muslims worldwide will kill rams in remembrance of that sacrifice.
The festival is popularly known as Eid-el-Kabir, and is also called Eid-al-Adha. In English, the Sallah festival name translates to the ‘Festival of the Sacrifice’ or the ‘Sacrifice Feast’.
The Nigerian Government declared Monday (11th July 2022) and Tuesday (12th July 2022) as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration for Muslims.
The OmegaPro family in Nigeria and around the World wishes all Muslims faithful, a Happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration today.
